After roughly four years in the industry, STR acknowledged that the business model they have been so successful in hotels with is not translate-able to self storage. They have plans to immediatly wind down the business unit and turn their attention back to hotels.
We expect that consolidation of the self storage service providers remains a prominant theme in 2019 as its a highly fragmented industry with a lot of competition.
