This week, the Radius+ team took a look at the Top 100 CBSA’s to see which market had added the most supply in 2025 so far.
The market taking the #1 spot for this week is Huntsville, AL.
An article from huntsvilleal.gov shared that the population in Huntsville, AL has grown by 15.9% as of July 1st 2025 compared to its 2020 census. Most of this growth is being driven by the robust job market (namely the Aerospace and Defense industry as well as Military jobs) driving employment.
As a result of this rocket fueled growth this market has been on the radar of many Self Storage developers adding new supply.
- In 2022 6.1% new supply relative to total supply was added
- In 2023 13.9% new supply relative to total supply was added
- In 2024 7.5% new supply relative to total supply was added
- In 2025 so far 7.5% new supply relative to total supply has been added
The massive influx of supply in lease-up has put considerable pressure on rates as you can see from the graphic below:
