The self-storage industry is working through a rare setup right now: demand has softened, but new supply is also at historic lows. I have been calling this a "reset" phase, and it is exactly why I'm looking forward to joining Storable's live webinar panel on February 26 at 2PM ET.
First, a sincere thank you to Storable for hosting this conversation and for inviting me to be part of it. Storable has a front-row seat to what operators are dealing with day to day, and I appreciate the opportunity to bring the Radius+ data perspective into a discussion that is grounded in real-world operations.
I'll be on the panel with Melissa Stiles (Storage Asset Management), Andrew Capranos (10 Federal), and Greg Brown (Storable), and our goal is simple: connect what the data is telling us with what operators are seeing in real time.
From the Radius+ side, I plan to focus on four themes that are shaping this moment:
The market bottom: demand has stalled, but supply is also at historic lows, which changes how this downturn behaves.
Macro stagnation: high interest rates and a frozen housing market are major drivers of today's softness.
Hyper-local performance: stability is increasingly market-specific, and it comes down to local supply discipline more than national trends.
The "wait and see": the industry is positioned for a rebound, but timing depends on a shift in financing conditions and mobility.
We'll also dig into practical operator takeaways, including how to adjust marketing, pricing, and operations as the cycle turns, and how to prepare for what comes next.
Again, I'm grateful to Storable for bringing this panel together. If you're asking, "Where are the real opportunities in this reset?", I think you'll enjoy the conversation.
